The Room for Mistakes

Oops! I did it!
It was the first biggest false step I've ever made in my recent office. The story begun when I was invited by an external senior official to participate in a three-days-event at down town which was unrelated to our internal program. I responded positively at the very first time because of the opportunity to learn new things and meet new people there. Following this, I asked my division head for his permission and he approved. But, I missed to seek the next higher authority approval. He has just known after I left. This has raised his temper and I got reprehension. I regreted and asked for apologize.
The lesson was :
First, for everything I do, I must, at least, get acknowledgement of the highest authority.
Second, in a learning house, there's always a room for mistakes.
Third, there is no reason for me to avoid another interesting invitation.
I'm not supposed to feel discredit or embarrased. To the contrary, I'm proud to get considered in a participation. Not everybody get it right?
